Nicole Álvarez Espada is a costume designer and jewelry designer working between New York and Puerto Rico. She began her practice in jewelry in 2012, developing a foundation in design, fabrication, and production before moving into film and television costume work.

Her background in jewelry continues to inform her approach to costume, with a focus on material, construction, and the relationship between the body and adornment. Over the past decade, her work has moved between fine jewelry, commercial projects, and film.

Years spent working in and around New York’s Diamond District shaped her understanding of craft, labor, and production, grounding her work in process as much as form.

She is a member of IATSE Local 829, with eight years of experience in costume design and fourteen years as a jewelry designer and producer.
